Osteo Bi-Flex Triple Strength (with Vitamin D) is a joint supplement that has the usual, heavy hitters of glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, and MSM. It also contains a few other ingredients to target other areas of health.

To quickly go over what glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are used for: glucosamine is essentially a building block or somewhat of a foundation of healthy cartilage and connective tissue. If the body cannot produce enough of this amino sugar, tendons, ligaments, and many other bodily tissues will not be able to properly form. Many people now take supplements that contain glucosamine as they get older. Chondroitin is often paired with glucosamine, as they are thought to work well together. It is located in the connective tissue that glucosamine makes up. When packaged and sold as a supplement, it is called chondroitin sulfate and typically contains animal byproducts, usually from cows or pigs. It may aid the collagen in absorbing shock and block the enzymes that may destroy the cartilage. These two ingredients are thought to help reverse the loss of this cartilage, according to some studies.

The other main ingredients concerning joints are arguably MGM and collagen, both of which are seen in other formulas that have the same goals – especially MSM. MSM is also sold as a supplement by itself.
