- Lap band surgery: requires hospitalization with some scarring and pain; vomiting as a result of overeating; band may slip out of place
- Gastric bypass surgery: stomach stretches back to original size, diarrhea, dumping from food moving too fast, faintness, gallstones, leaking from stomach into body, nausea, staple loosening, unusual sweating, weakness
- Sleeve gastrectomy: leakage around staples, internal scar tissue blocking food flow, dehydration, gallbladder stones
